Agreement For Colorstar Photo Kiosks At Chinese Netcafes

An American company has signed a deal to place retail photo kiosks in Chinese Internet cafes.

Northport Capital's Chinese subsidiary has signed an agreement with China Netcom for supply and operation of a total of 564 of Northport's Colorstar digital photo processing kiosk units. Three hundred Colorstar units will be installed in netcafe locations in Liaoning province that are supplied with ADSL connections from China Netcom. A further 264 units are to be installed in CNC retail locations in the province.

Revenues are split 15% to CNC and 85% to Northport with Northport paying monthly fees for Colorstar unit ADSL connections as well as a service cost. The agreement runs for two years after which the parties have the option to extend the agreement further. Ownership of the kiosk units remains with Northport.

NOPD's Sixth District working five armed robbery cases

Their self-indulgence is, howver, a common thread which they share with "traditional" liberals. Carnival organizations have contribute nothing to the betterment of New Orleans. I know, because I was there. If they had, do you really think the problems we have would exist. After all, these are the LEADERS of our community. Right. What have they LED? Class derision. No, I am no Saul Alinsky--far from it. Just, again, someone who has witnessed a beautiful city slowly atrophy because of the negligence of those who possessed the power to prevent it.

Combine wrap: Fantasy risers and fallers

Anyway, since the combine is such a quick and cut-to-the-chase event, I'll do the same in this piece. Here's my (fantasy-position-related) list of the top five risers and fallers at the combine:

Risers

Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii: He was hugely disappointing against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and not much better a few days later among his peers in the Senior Bowl.

Nonetheless, I was anything but surprised to learn Brennan had a near-perfect performance (20-for-21) in the passing accuracy drill at the combine (and in fact, his one incompletion was a drop by the wideout after having been thrown right on the money). Think about it: Brennan came from one of those most pass-happy college football programs in the NCAA. He passed the ball on almost every down, and since handing the ball off isn't a big art, it stands to reason he should be able to make any throw his NFL coach wants.

Pain spreads: Car repos rise

Tanya Englert of Norwood had her blue 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee repossessed in December after making payments to own it for the previous 3 years.

"The car had problems, a big repair bill," she said. "Then I had a $400-a-month car payment, $100 a month for insurance, $100 a month for parking. Gas hit $3 a gallon.

"It all added up. I was just sick about it."

Mother cheers death of militant responsible for son's death

Do I feel a little vindicated that he was blown up? Oh, yeah. I hope he heard the ticking before he was blown up."

Michael's grandfather was a Marine during the 1930s, and his father was a Marine in the '60s. Michael was the oldest of Rockwell's three sons: Andrew Sauls is now 42 and lives in South Carolina, and Donald Rockwell is 28 and owns the Boar's Nest Bar Bistro in Norfolk.

It was Andrew who called his mother Thursday morning.

"Mom, did you know?"

She hurriedly flipped through the newspaper pages, caught a glimpse of something about Beirut, then came to the story with Mughniyeh's assassination.

"Oh, my God," Rockwell said, "he's finally dead."

Rockwell knows some people might think that it's been more than two decades, so she must be over her son's death.

Suspicion runs deep about Anderson council member’s use of public ...

ANDERSON COUNTY — Anderson County is changing how it handles condemnation settlements based on the county administrator's belief that a County Council member interfered with right-of-way negotiations for the Beaverdam Creek sewer line.

The three-phase Beaverdam Creek sewer line runs from Interstate 85 and S.C. 81 to Long Road, then follows Big Beaverdam Creek to the city of Anderson's Rocky River Wastewater Treatment Plant off White Street.

Thirty-seven properties were affected by the construction, which was approved in 1998. Twenty-one landowners donated or gave the county rights of way for the sewer line. Sixteen properties were condemned, and the owners settled out of court. Only one went to trial.

Six of the 16 condemned properties belonged to relatives of Anderson County Council member Cindy Wilson.
