| Rhetoric will leave off where McCain begins
In one sentence on primary night in Wisconsin, U.S. Sen. John McCain nailed Barack Obama — and defined precisely the terms of the fall campaign. Be not intimidated by the growing certainty that the rhetorically gifted Obama, and not his fingernails-across-the-chalkboard opponent, will emerge as McCain's opponent in November. With Hillary came the high negatives that gave Republicans hope of a built-in general election advantage. With Obama comes an army of high-end liberals, affluent and well-educated, along with an energized swell of blacks and the young drawn specifically to him. The prospect of running against a "movement" has unnerved some Republicans, to say nothing of those — affiliated or not — who have listened to Democrats lay out their vision for America through a long series of debates.

Exclusive | Columbia lands Spirit Airlines
Columbia's airport hasn't landed a new airline since Allegiant Air pulled its service in January 2007, less than a month after starting Columbia-to-Tampa service. The last low-cost carrier to serve Columbia was the now-defunct Independence Air. Independence forced Delta and US Airways, Columbia's two largest carriers, to lower their fares. But Independence went out of business in 2006, and fares out of Columbia almost immediately went back up. Trippler said Columbia's travelers should have confidence in Spirit airlines staying power. "This airline has been attacked by just about everybody but they haven't been run out of town," he said. "Nobody can run Spirit out of town except the people who fly out of Columbia."Spirit was founded in Detroit in 1980 as a charter service.
Jeff Thelen's Blog
Do you have any ideas to save money? We ran a couple of stories this week talking about the tough economic times that could lie ahead. And we heard some great advice from experts and the people putting them into action. They say you need to write down a budget and stick with it. Save money and take advantage of your 401k plan as much as possible. Other advice is find hobbies that don't cost as much money (play basketball instead of buying video games) cut down on your number of stops per week at your favorite high end coffee shop and read stuff off the internet instead of subscribing to a magazine. So, do you have any ideas? Feel free to share them. You know what to do. J Respond to Jeff's blog here: Jeff, I saw the clip on "Hunters Coalition Against Earn-A-Buck" and am looking for contact info.

The Reluctant iPhone Unlocker
Before the iPhone came about, Pavel Zaboj, founder of the firm Bladox in Prague, sold relatively low quantities of a chip called a "Turbo SIM," designed to let cell phones use multiple networks. However, when it was discovered the chip could unlock iPhones, his company was inundated with thousands of orders. What followed was a roller coaster ride of supply and demand that's left Zaboj sick of dealing with the iPhone.
